Hi Scott (and List),
We've encountered a related behavior during EAD export. Separators in the
form of periods (.) are added to <unitid> to set off each section of the
Resource Record Identifier. I imagine it's a useful feature for many users,
but in our case as well punctuation is an integral part of the collection
ID. For now we're manually editing the XML to remove the additional period
separators.
If there's a way in the future to make these separators optional on
import/export of EAD, we'd love to see that!
Best,
Kate
