Just one note -- that list is based on the MARC relator list. I think it's
worth considering whether updating it is something you really WANT to do,
since it will be harder to reconcile that data in the future if you're not
using a controlled list.

> Hi Nick,
> The relator field in ASpace can be edited, provided you have the right
> permissions to edit Controlled Value Lists.
> Go to *System *> *Manage Controlled Value Lists*. In the* List Name *dropdown
> choose *Linked Agent Archival Record Relators
> (linked_agent_archival_record_relators)* and you can create a new value.
> You could add “recipient” to this list.
> I believe you are correct that Linked Agent Role (linked_agent_role), i.e.
> Creator, Source, or Subject, cannot be edited.
> Hope this helps!

> Hi all,
> We've only begun cataloging collections in ArchivesSpace fairly recently,
> so these may be basic questions, but I can't find obvious resources to
> answer them. When creating agent links, all agents must be assigned a role
> as either Creator, Source or Subject. Additionally, these may be specified
> with a list of relator fields drawn from
> http://www.loc.gov/marc/relators/relaterm.html. As far as I can tell,
> neither of these are among the lists of controlled values that can be
> edited.
> Problem: How to identify the recipient of a letter in this schema. It is
> not clear to me whether a recipient is a Creator, a Source, or a Subject of
> a letter. Additionally, according to the loc.gov site, "recipient" has
> been updated to "addressee," but I can find no way to reflect this change
> in ArchivesSpace.
> Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks.
