[Archivesspace_Users_Group] linking ead to existing containers

I am working with v1.5.3. I have figured out how to create containers through the API such that the association between the top container and the location and the container profile is made, theoretically saving time. In my tests I cannot seem to get an imported ead to pick up an existing container of the same identifier. I know this may have come up already, but is there something I can put in the ead like an attribute to get that association to pick up instead of creating a new container?
