Phil,
Since the majority of our finding aids are created by students we don't take the time to teach them NACO and SACO rules. Instead, except for the donor, they enter information about suggested headings in the Finding Aid Note field.
We then export the MARCXML record from ArchivesSpace and import into OCLC. We then have catalogers use constant data and some macros to fix and/or enhance the descriptive fields in the record. The cataloger refer to the record in ArchivesSpace to determine what authority headings (names and subjects) to set up and/or add to the record.
To aid in cleaning up the errors in agent and subject files from our legacy records, the cataloger is searching headings in ArchivesSpace (cleaning up any errors encountered) and creating records for any new headings. There's also the option to use the LC/NAF Import plugin to download heading from LC to save some time.

Subject: [Archivesspace_Users_Group] Authority/Subject Heading Workflow in ArchivesSpace
Greetings all,
How is everyone handling the Authority Control/Subject Heading workflow in ArchivesSpace? Are Collection level (MARCXML) being created, with all authority work included, in the ILS and then ingested into ASpace? Or is Authority Control handled solely via ASpace Staff Interface subject heading management?
We are an Ex Libris (Voyager/Primo) institution and we are trying to improve efficiency and streamline workflows for the creation of Collection Level (MARC) and Full Finding Aid (EAD).
Thank you,
Phil
