Hello Akofa (and others who may be noting this post),

Thanks for writing about this. This issue was recently reported and we’ve been working on a fix. See https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/browse/ANW-1777 for details. The fix is up on our test server right now at https://test.archivesspace.org/staff (username admin/password admin) if you would like to verify that it works as intended.

We’re hoping to put out a small patch release for this issue and a few others very soon, possibly as early as later this week. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Subject: [Archivesspace_small_archives_users_group] Archivesspace 3.4.0 Bulk Importer Error

Hello,
We're running into an issue with the bulk importer in 3.4.0 and are wondering if anyone else has come across the same problem.

We created a test import collection using a freshly downloaded version of the import template from 3.4. When the spreadsheet is imported with the "validate only" box checked, it is successful and without errors.

When actually imported, almost every top container has a fatal error. It looks like the importer expects the columns containing the "Text" and "Folder" data to contain unique values. But these are the "container type" and "child type" columns respectively, both of which are not only not unique, they contain controlled values that the importer should be checking against the ASpace controlled value list. The sole container that does not error out is one without a child instance entry. And the same container, when referenced in subsequent rows of the spreadsheet, which do have child instances, fails.

See attached for an example of the error.

Has anyone else seen something similar to this?

Thank you for any insight you can provide.

Best Akofa
