Nominations Requested for ArchivesSpace User Advisory Council

The ArchivesSpace Board of Trustees is seeking nominations from its members for the ArchivesSpace User Advisory Council (UAC).  Nominations may be made only by ArchivesSpace Member representatives.  Member representatives are encouraged to nominate persons from their institution or from other member institutions (please see the list at http://www.archivesspace.org/members<http://www.archivesspace.org/members>) who are experienced with some of the activities projected for UAC and who are capable of participating on a regular basis throughout the term of service of July 1, 2015-June 30, 2017.

UAC (http://www.archivesspace.org/usersadvisory) is a critical part of the ArchivesSpace community, serving as a communication conduit between ArchivesSpace governance groups and ArchivesSpace users.  It is also the group that administers ArchivesSpace user services.  Some of the activities UAC is currently engaged in are:

*            liaising with national and regional archives organizations;

*            soliciting, suggesting, gathering requirements for, and prioritizing enhancements to the ArchivesSpace application;

*            maintaining and updating user documentation, as needed, of the ArchivesSpace application;

*            developing and providing training to users; and

*            advising the Board of Trustees and LYRASIS on the design and delivery of user services, including but not limited to help desk support, training, and presentation of documentation.

Sub-groups will be established within UAC to address the areas identified above, as well as other activities identified subsequently.  Nominees will be appointed to UAC according to their ability to participate in and lead some of the activities mentioned above.

The anticipated time commitment for each appointee is expected to be two hours per week on average.

The term of service for these appointments will be July 1, 2015-June 30, 2017.  We expect to make up to thirteen appointments, and each appointee will be eligible to have her/his appointment renewed for an additional two-year term, i.e., July 1, 2017-June 30, 2019.

Self-nominations are acceptable.
