What's Covered:
The millennial generation, born into a fast moving tech-driven environment, continues to change the landscape in academia and in the work world. It's an important shift in human capital that must be understood in terms of behaviors, needs, values and expectations. With the ubiquity of the Internet, mobile phones, tablets and laptops are keeping millennials always connected while on the go. To be sure, millennials use mobile devices at twice the rate of people 35 and older, according to the 2015 Digital Marketer Report.

To keep up with this generation, universities and colleges have to keep pace with technological advancements that suit individual needs. Faculty need to be tech savvy to deliver an engaging collegiate learning experience while reducing social distractions that mobile devices foster. At the same time, the role of the librarian is changing with significant implications for the scholarly publishing and communications community.

In this NFAIS Webinar, Monday, May 16, EBSCO's Kate Lawrence, the University of Nebraska's Bernard McCoy and the University of Illinois at Chicago's Jenny Emanuel Taylor, will discuss in depth:

* Who millennials are and what their behavioral approach is as they leave higher education and become consumers and professionals

* What's being done to create the best collegiate experience for millennials

* How institutions are using tech-based tools to improve student engagement and classroom instruction

* The methods through which students absorb scholarly materials

* How librarians are meeting the needs of students whose study and research habits are laser pointed on the technologies they use

Presenters (listed per presenter order):

Kate Lawrence, Vice President, User Research, EBSCO

Bernard R. McCoy, Associate Professor, College of Journalism and Mass Communications, University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Jenny Emanuel Taylor, Assistant Regional Health Sciences Librarian, University of Illinois at Chicago

Join us for this NFAIS Webinar to better understand what Millennials are all about and how they (as consumers, professionals and citizens) contribute to - and disrupt - the information community.
