What's Covered:
Several important shifts in technology, user expectations, and evolving roles are having a profound impact on the information community as a whole. In this roundtable discussion, you'll hear how emerging trends are affecting industry professionals and their significance to content providers, publishers, researchers, and libraries.
Join Cynthia Hill, Manager, Research Library and Bank Archives, at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco; Reynold Guida, Director, Product Management, at IEEE; and Jill O'Neill, NFAIS Director of Professional Development for a forward-thinking discussion on:

  * External forces impacting/disrupting the information community, such as ubiquitous computing, devices supporting mobility/portability, and smart machines.
  * The rise of new resources for discovery, new tools for content creation and management, and dissemination through open access and/or academic collaborative networks.
  * Changes in institutional environments, including increased focus on return on investment, career management and assessment metrics, fundamental changes in researcher behavior and expectations, and the re-calibration of the research process.
  * Emerging functions and roles for the information community in addressing undefined forms of research output.
Join us on Thursday, June 4, to examine changing roles and responsibilities, technology shifts in content and publishing affecting the information community, and the re-calibration of research dissemination.
