While you may not be producing eBooks yet, it's probably just a matter of
time before your market will demand them. eBooks are firmly in the news
conscience. At Apple's recent media event, Steve Jobs announced that Random
House is signing on with the store, bringing 17,000 eBooks. Barnes & Noble
recently claimed to have 25 percent of the U.S. eBook market. And university
presses are moving to eBooks. When looking to migrate legacy content to an
eBook format (and you have a few choices), there is always the concern of
how well automated tools can perform with negligible clean-up required as a
post-conversion activity.
This webinar will cover some of the problems encountered with automated
conversion to EPUB (the open, public, standard format for eBooks) and MOBI
(Amazon's proprietary Kindle format) from different source types; the
limitations of automated conversion as well as a suggested approach; and
important things to keep in mind for special content such as images, tables,
and mathematical formulas.
DCL provides conversion services and software to publishers, information
aggregators, industry, government, libraries and documentation developers.
Our co-sponsor is Information Today, Inc.

day.com> , publisher of books, eBooks, directories, magazines, and the
leading industry newspaper, Information Today.
DCL recently completed an eBook project for Information Today, Inc. and
Plexus Publishing, Inc. The conversion project created the eBook format of a
New York Times bestseller - Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and
Corruption of Atlantic City - in time to coincide with a series it inspired
that was produced for HBO by Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter.
