[Lyrarl] 2014 Harvard U Press eBooks Offer from De Gruyter

Greetings All,

I now have the 2014 offer from De Gruyter for the Harvard University Press eBook collections ready to share with you. The attached memo sets forth many details, but here are the highlights.


*         We have negotiated two offers from De Gruyter for HUP ebooks, one for 2011-2014 collections, and another for the HUP Archive eBook collection (1896-2006) that contains out-of-print titles not available online through any other source

*         The 2011-2014 offer has pricing with deepening discounts based on the number of participating libraries by May 30

*         The Archives offer has pricing with deepening discounts based on the total dollar amount of orders gathered by August 29

*         2014 Collection pricing for libraries that purchased the 2013 Collection will be provided directly to those libraries. HUP did not meet their projected title production in 2013, and credit or other compensation is due to these libraries when they either purchase the 2014 Collection or decide not to purchase. LYRASIS will be in direct contact.

I know this offer has been anticipated for quite some time. HUP is still adjusting to their new business model, and they relied on their experience last year to improve the way they set up the 2014 collection. Making an adjustment to a calendar year frame of mind poses challenges for them, as they have been used to planning based on their spring and fall seasonal catalogs.
