Yes, enabling "merge the major record types in this repository" for a group is what causes the "Merge" button in staff interface toolbars for resources and digital objects to be displayed for users in that group. Since at least version 2.5.1, probably earlier.

Dear all,

We’re implementing ArchivesSpace at Cambridge University Library and across a rising number of separate archive institutions in Cambridge (25 at the last count).

It would be helpful for senior data creators to be able to merge resource records and I’m writing to ask which user group or which permission would be the right one for this. I can see that one of the permissions available is to ‘merge the major record types in this repository’ and by default this is not part of a repository manager’s set of permissions. Is this the right permission for merging one resource with another? We are being cautious about systems administrator rights at this stage, at least until we have made more progress on how we will work together both within the Library and across the consortium of local archivists.

I would be really grateful for any assistance/guidance with this and apologies if I have missed something obvious in the documentation.

Best wishes,

Natalie
