You may want to take a look at NYU's MARC exporter plugin -
https://github.com/NYULibraries/nyu_marcxml_export_plugin. This supports
exporting item records via the 949 field, including container location,
barcode, number, etc. (
https://github.com/NYULibraries/nyu_marcxml_export_plugin/blob/master/backend/lib/marc_custom_field_serialize.rb#L166
).
Depending on your ILS and local policies, you'll need to modify the
mappings of ASpace data models to MARCXML via the plugin, but it should do
what you're looking for. We use a modified version of the plugin here at
the NYPL to generate our MARC + item records in the 949.
I'm not aware of a MARC importer that will generate containers from item
records, but it's not something that I've ever looked into.
