[Archivesspace_Users_Group] release candidate available - ArchivesSpace v2.5.0-RC1

The ArchivesSpace team is pleased to announce a release candidate, v2.5.0-RC1. You can download it at https://github.com/archivesspace/archivesspace/releases/tag/v2.5.0-RC1 or test it out without downloading at http://test.archivesspace.org/staff  (username admin /password admin).

This release candidate contains many program-led and community pull requests that provide feature enhancements, bug fixes, infrastructure improvements, and documentation updates. The centerpiece of this release candidate is the refactored reports worked on by our co-op student from Georgia Tech, Sarah Morrissey. Another improvement that is sure to be greatly appreciated by many is code that has been contributed by Mark Triggs that reduces loading times for records in the staff interface. Other items of note include small updates to the OAI-PMH functionality, the MARCXML exporter, the EAD exporter, and the PDF produced from the public interface, and the option to use Japanese translations for the interface labels. There are also some bug fixes for the public and staff interfaces and some additional automated tests and infrastructure upgrades. This release also adds a linked top containers endpoint for the API, which will facilitate bulk data operations related to containers.

Thanks to the many community members who made contributions to this release, including both individual developers and our Development Prioritization sub-team, Reports sub-team, and Core Committers Group. In putting release notes together we're always heartened by the reminder of just how many people work with us to make ArchivesSpace better for everyone. Thank you all.

Please try this release candidate out over the next few days and let us know by August 8 at ArchivesSpaceHome at lyrasis.org<mailto:ArchivesSpaceHome at lyrasis.org> if you notice any problems with the specific areas that are addressed in this release, or if anything that was working before no longer is. Barring major issues, we expect to release 2.5.0 by the end of next week.
