[Archivesspace_Users_Group] Top-Container restrictions

Adding a conditions governing access or use note is not an option in Accessions. And checking the boxes in basic information does not carry over into top-containers.

The restrictions aren't governed by rights subrecords, they're governed by conditions governing access and conditions governing use (this is because the rights subrecord is based on the PREMIS model and is for digital preservation use, not for archival description, which is governed by DACS). Try applying the same restrictions as conditions governing access or conditions governing use restrictions and give it a shot.

I watched the video, tried some stuff out and I saw that worked on the resources level (thank you for pointing to that resource). If I update the Rights statement in accessions with restrictions information it doesn’t look like that is carrying over into the top-containers being listed as attached to the accession. Is that not a current functionality?

I'm glad you all asked about this! In short, containers aren't restricted, materials are. These material restrictions are then associated with containers.

I made a video about how it works here (a couple of years ago, but the functionality hasn't changed), which I hope you all enjoy. https://youtu.be/biCDhkbBSng

Following up on Brian’s question is mine:

How can you make a Top Container restricted? I’ve tried restricting content (series or file level item) in a Resource record that is associated with a Top Container (doesn’t carry over t the Top Container) and I see no way to do this within a Top container record.

Thanks for all help!

Is there a non-API way to note that a top-container is restricted? I see this looks like it should be an option since it is a listed field in the container management, but there is nothing in the top-container record data entry form or update after-the-fact to actually note that a container is restricted.
