[Archivesspace_Users_Group] PDFS and question on editing auto-populated fields

There was a discussion about enabling a PDF view for the public on this JIRA ticket. It sounds like the problem was that generating the PDFs would be too much of a strain on the system, but I also totally agree with you on their importance – especially as long as the box and folder information isn’t readily available in the public interface besides clicking on each individual archival object. https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/browse/AR-752
There is also a JIRA ticket out for simplifying the process for printing to PDFs
At MSU, we’ve also used volunteers some student assistants for basic data entry. I created a JIRA ticket for the potential to link staff profiles to collections for collection-specific permissions
If folks are able to report or vote on JIRA issues, that helps indicate the level of interest in particular issues and also articulates better to developers what changes to implement.
Also, I have a question for you all. I was so smug of myself to figure out how to create an autopopulated template of common fields in the finding aids. However, somehow I can’t navigate back to that area to alter this template. I think I’ve checked everywhere, including “User Preference Defaults” (where I would expect), but although there is a box to check for pre-populating fields, I am not seeing where I can edit my saved fields. I may have set this up in v. 1.4. but now we’re in 1.5.1 (and still unable to upgrade because of a weird indexing issue….)
Thanks for your help, everyone!

Subject: [Archivesspace_Users_Group] Export options for User Permission Groups?
We have provided reference staff with Viewer access to our ASpace instance (1.4.2), however they cannot access any of the export options namely “Print Resource to PDF.” This would be extremely helpful in reference interactions pertaining to in-process/partially processed collections that are not yet available through the public interface. The export option does not become available until the “Advanced Data Entry” level which provides more privileges than we would like to grant here. And exports aren’t listed as one of the Manage Groups functions that can be toggled on/off.
I’m curious to hear if others are facing similar issues and if there are any workarounds/planned improvements in this area? Thanks.
