[Archivesspace_Users_Group] Agents as originators, creators, and subjects

Hi Christine, Thanks very much & we do need a useful (and easy to explain) public interface for the finding aids, including better display, navigation, and indexing. The subject index will be greatly enhanced to include the agents-as-subjects.

Best wishes, Susanna

Hi Lara and Susanna,

The public interface of ArchivesSpace is currently undergoing significant enhancement, including how agents and subjects display in search results, record pages, and landing pages. The group involved has made a lot of information on the progress available at https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/wiki/display/ADC/Public+Interface+Enhancement+Project. Mark Custer, who is leading the effort, may be able to point you to how the specific issues you’ve raised are being addressed.

Also, though the initial question was about display in the public interface, if there are changes to the way indexing happens for the purposes of improving usability of the public interface (such as indexing Agents with a role of Subject with Subjects), these may also carry over to the staff interface.

I just meant that at least the agent-creators are all accessible in the appropriate search, whereas the agent-subjects are not retrieved in a subject search, which does bring into question the system designers’ inclusion of the field.

Yes, I agree this is an issue as well.

So, has this come up on this forum before? It seems kind of a glaring issue to me . . .
