Hi,


The update to java 8 is not necessary. Java 7 is fine for ArchivesSpace ( I'm not sure about AT ), so you can upgrade Aspace without having to wait to upgrade java.

I will look into updating to 1.4.2 as soon as possible. We’re using Java 7 because we’re behind on updating to the new AT, per AS-1157. So we’ll update our AT, update to Java 8, then update to 1.4.2

This is a problem with java, which could been the issue that 1.4.1 had with a bug in jRuby.



Can you upgrade to v1.4.2? What version of java are you using?

Writing with an update to the still unresolved issue:



After multiple attempts to export the EAD of an extant record in order to test Brian’s suggestion, I created a minimal resource record directly in AS to bypass the variable of our imported data. I am still unable to create a PDF from this new ASpace created record.

Thanks, Brian. I did this for one resource, and received an XML error report instead of EAD . I have attached the file that was generated.

The most likely scenario is that the Resource you are trying to print is generating malformed XML, and the most likely reason for that is user-entered markup in Note fields. Try exporting the Resource as an EAD and then opening that file in Oxygen (or even a browser like Firefox) to see if there are any unclosed or overlapping tags.
