[Archivesspace_Users_Group] Accession migration problem remains

When you run the migration tool – are you seeing any status messages related to accessions. I see in the copy function – there is a while look that enumerates through the accession keys returned from a query of the Accessions endpoint on Archon. If there are keys present – the tool provides a wide range of status messages telling you if the process of handling that key was successful or failed. However, if there are no keys returned – it looks like the function just exits.

Without having a copy of archon to test – it’s hard to trace what’s happening – but I guess one of the things I’d check if it’s easy is to see if the endpoint is responding to requests. The migration tool silently moves on if the endpoint doesn’t return a response.

Brad,

I’m looking for what his solution was because our accession records still don’t migrate. I looked at a copy of U of Illinois’ Archon database and our accession records do not look any different from theirs. The pre-refactored tool migrated our records though. In our test copy of the database for migration, I switched the primary repository which is the only change I made. Primary repository used to factor into accession migration, but I can’t imagine why switching it would break something, so I’m stumped.

Matt

Hi, Matt,

Nathan is no longer a member of the ArchivesSpace program team. I am not sure he will answer your question.

Are you looking for an explanation of what he did, or are you experiencing the same problem you reported six months ago regarding the migration of your accession records?

Brad W.

I’m following up on this old email, wondering if Nathan could share what his resolution to accession records not migrating was. This is a shot in the dark but worth a try.

Hi,
I think we have resolved the issue of Accessions; however, having a more recent database dump would help us find any other issue.

Thanks Nathan. I look forward to hearing what you find. Your copy of our Archon is dated though as I’ve cleaned it up a lot on our end. But I haven’t touched the Accession records.

Confirmed, for some reason none of the Accessions records in Archon are being copied over to ASpace. I will take a deeper look at this tomorrow and hopefully, it's something that can be quickly resolved.

Hi,

look like we have a copy of your Archon database we can use to test this. I will run the migration and see hwta the results are on my end.

This is a follow up to an earlier issue. In our most recent Archon to ASpace test I noted that none of our Archon accession records had migrated. None of these records had creators attached to them, so I selected a set of test records and added a creator. They still did not migrate, and switching repositories in the admin view and browsing accessions does not seem to make a difference.
