[Archivesspace_Users_Group] Testing issues with ArchivesSpace 1.1

Chris,

Thanks again for your help with all this. While I can understand that there may be a difference of opinion on retaining <p> tags on import, in our situation at BYU we would definitely prefer to have them stripped as they are not used in any of the previously imported records. If this can be addressed through a plugin, and would be useful to other institutions as well, we would endorse its development as an alternative to changing the general importer/converter.

Thanks,

Hi Gordon,

The <titleproper> issue has already has been reported and we got a pull request from Mark Custer to fix this ( https://github.com/archivesspace/archivesspace/pull/109)<https://github.com/archivesspace/archivesspace/pull/109>.

In regards to the <p>'s being coverted to linebreaks on import, we've seemed to go back and forth on this a bit, as some people wanted the <p>s left, some don't.

I would be rather easy to tweak the importer/converter to strip these out. I can make a plugin that does this rather easiely. Would that work? I worry that if we remove the <p>s we'll immediately get a "Hey, what happened to my <p>'s?!?" emails....or maybe not?

We have come across the following issues in testing ArchivesSpace 1.1:

* On export, the filing title (<titleproper type="filing">) is not appearing in correct order and is generating a validation error in oXygen. It should appear following the titleproper and before the author element
* On import, paragraph tags are being retained and are visible in the staff note view. This does not seem to be a problem with export, but it does clutter the interface to include tagging that is typically added on export normally. Could these tags be stripped and replaced with line breaks?

Also, when testing the application in Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17420 on Windows 7 we found that the banner stating "ArchivesSpace does not fully support this browser" was still appearing, though according to the release notes (FEATURE #72715824) this had been resolved.

We hope that these are easily resolved issues.

Gordon
