Consider registering for: * ORCID Trust Program: Principles & Practices (June 15 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm UTC-4) o ORCID will be joined by Tom Pollard and Brian Gow, research scientists at MIT, to discuss how PhysioNet implements "trust markers " into their application workflow for access to sensitive medical research data. We will also discuss the value of a well-populated ORCID record to the entire research ecosystem, and offer five easy tips for both researchers (to ensure they can get the most out of their records) and ORCID members (to help make ORCID more useful for their researchers and for their organization). o Register: ORCID Trust Program: Principles & Practices o NOTE: MIT is a member of ORCID US Community * Better Together: Open new possibilities with Open Infrastructure (June 27 @ 7am UTC) o Crossref, DataCite and ORCID work together to provide foundational open infrastructure that is integral to the global research ecosystem. We offer unique, persistent identifiers (PIDs) - Crossref and DataCite DOIs for research outputs and ORCID iDs for people - alongside collecting comprehensive, open metadata that is non-proprietary, accessible, interoperable, and available across borders, disciplines, and time. o Register: Webinar Registration - Zoom Thanks! ROR can now be used with the ORCID API and the ORCID Affiliation Manager tool to add affiliations to the ORCID registry, and ROR is also now the default organization ID provider for all affiliations that are added to ORCID records manually by individual users. On this community call, we will learn more about ROR and ORCID, with guest speakers Liz Krznarich, Technical Lead at ROR, and Paloma Mar?n-Arraiza, Engagement Manager at ORCID. Call details: * When: Tues. July 12, 2022 @ 12-1pm Eastern/ 11am-12pm Central/ 10-11am Mountain/ 9-10am Pacific * Register to attend: Meeting Registration - Zoom * Agenda: 2022-07-12 ORCID US Community Call - ROR & ORCID - Google Docs * This call will be recorded and the recording link will be sent to all who register. If you haven't done so, consider filling it out as everyone who participates in this survey, will be entered to receive one of two chances to win a $50 visa gift card or equivalent $50 donation to a charity of your choice. Please take approximately 25 minutes to fill out the following survey located at this link: https://bit.ly/LYR2022Survey. For those participants who prefer to see all of the questions in advance, here is a link to a PDF copy of the survey. The deadline for participation is June 30th, 2022. The survey will offer LYRASIS members, users, and participants in LYRASIS activities a new perspective and understanding of how primarily academic North American institutions support and execute RIM activities. The survey is divided into four sections: (1) RIM responsibility, (2) RIM funding, (3) RIM compliance, and (4) RIM tools. This survey should take approximately 20-25 minutes to complete. It is intended to cover the span of an institution's RIM activities, so please share the survey with your colleagues for questions that lie outside of your job duties. At the beginning of the survey you will be asked for your name, institution, and job title. All of this information will remain confidential and will not be included in any external publications/reports or presentations, unless identification is specifically volunteered. We are merely using this information to identify duplicate entries from institutions across our distribution channels. Please contact Hannah Rosen, hannah.rosen at lyrasis.org with any questions. The ORCID US Community would like to invite you to our ORCID and NSPM-33 webinar (7/21/2022, 12:00 PM-1:30 PM Eastern Time). For registration and full details of the webinar, please see: ORCID and NSPM-33 (lyrasis.org). Brief Description: In January 2021, the White House released a National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM-33) on United States Government-Supported Research and Development National Security Policy. NSPM-33 directs Federal agencies conducting and awarding research funds to establish policies related to use of Digital Persistent Identifiers (DPIs) for researchers' disclosure of information during funding application and reporting workflows, including but not limited to affiliations/employment, funding support, and positions. This webinar will cover an overview of NSPM-33 as it applies to ORCID and recommended actions for how organizations can prepare to help researchers meet potential NSPM-33 policies related to ORCID. We will also hear a case study from the University of Florida, a comprehensive land-grant University home to 3,500 researchers and receives almost $1 billion annually in extramural funding. The University of Florida research office (UF Research) has built a custom ORCID API integration that allows researchers to connect their ORCID iD with University of Florida and have UF data written to their ORCID records. We will have plenty of time for discussion and questions at the end of the session. We hope to see you in July. Thank you and please let us know if you have any questions. Check out our new blog post! MIT's PhysioNet Platform Uses Trust Markers in ORCID Records to Streamline Data Access Credentials. PhysioNet is an ORCID-enabled repository of medical research data managed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Laboratory for Computational Physiology. MIT became an ORCID member in 2014 and joined the ORCID US Community consortium in 2019. This blog post explores how trust markers found in ORCID records helps to streamline the process PhysioNet uses to qualify users and grant them access to sensitive clinical data. Thank you to Tom Pollard and Brian Gow, both of MIT, for sharing their work with the ORCID US Community. Note: This blog post is a re-post of ORCID's blog titled "A Use Case for Trust Markers in ORCID Records: Streamlining the Credentialing Process, published on June 8, 2022. Thank you!
