What's Covered:

According to figshare and Digital Science's just-released survey report, The State of Open Data, 80% of researchers value data citation as much or more than article citation. Yet more than half of the researchers surveyed are unsure about licensing conditions and the extent to which their data can be accessed or reused.

The study, which will be the focus of a presentation by figshare's Dan Valen in this event, also revealed researchers are unsure of how to cite secondary research datasets in their research, and would like more guidance on how to comply with research funders' policies.

Join NFAIS on November 14, 2016 for a Virtual One-Day Workshop, Harnessing the New Era of Data Sharing: How Open Science is Changing Research, to learn more about the core principles for sharing and publishing research data. This includes critical data-sharing incentivization issues, such as data citation and academic credit, "right of first use," and intellectual rights and licensing issues. Plus, NFAIS's panel of speakers will discuss the role publishers and academic library staff can play in supporting researchers.

Presenters (listed per presenter order):
