NFAIS Webinar: Doing Business in Russia: An Information Industry Overview

On Thursday, February 16, 2012, NFAIS will hold webinar from 11:00am -
12:30pm EST on doing business in Russia - the third in a series of
professional development webinars on doing business on the BRIC countries.
Why are these countries important? The world economy may be growing, but it
is the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) -- not the U.S. and
Europe -- that are leading the way. Indeed, by 2020, all of the BRIC should
be in the top 10 largest economies of the world! And although China and
India traditionally lead the group, Russia's economy has been buoyed by
higher commodity prices in recent months. Publishers and database producers
cannot afford to ignore the market opportunities that it offers.

The presentation will provide insights on the following with regard to the
information industry in Russia:

. Market size

. Fastest growing segments

. Government policies

. Leadership

. Publishing companies

. Number of Universities

. Number of degrees granted

. University spending

. Challenges and opportunities in doing business in Russia

. Opportunities for publishers

. Current trends

The webinar will be hosted by Philip de Leon, President of Trade Connections
International, LLC. Philip has had a distinguished career in international
business development, promoting international trade, investment, and
partnerships. His unique leadership and inter-personal skills helped open
new markets across the Newly Independent States of the former Soviet Union.
Philip is a Law School graduate from the Sorbonne University in Paris,
France and from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He also holds a
graduate degree in Russian language & studies from the National Institute
for Oriental Languages and Civilizations in Paris, and has published
