Subject: [Lyroffers] Announcing a New Round of Open Access Community Investment Program (OACIP) Funding Opportunities

Today, the LYRASIS Open Access Community Investment Program (OACIP)<https://bit.ly/LYR_OACIP> announces a new round of funding opportunities to support Diamond Open Access journals, those that are published and distributed with no fees for the reader or author.

OACIP is a community-driven framework that enables multiple stakeholders - including academic and public libraries, academic departments, institutions, museums, and funding agencies - to evaluate and collectively fund Diamond Open Access (OA) journals. OACIP brings together investment opportunities in one place and provides important and consistent information about those opportunities to support informed and principled investment decisions. OACIP Participating Journals respond to the OACIP Criteria Form<https://www.lyrasis.org/content/Documents/OACIP_InvestmentCriteriaForm.pdf> about their journal, and the responses are posted on the OACIP website. Using this approach, OACIP provides tailored matchmaking between nonprofit scholarly publishers and editorial boards that are seeking financial investments from funders (like libraries) to support OA publishing that aligns with their mission and values.

OACIP launched in 2020. Thanks to many in the LYRASIS Library Community and beyond, five Diamond OA journals<https://www.lyrasis.org/content/Pages/oacip.aspx#:~:text=Fully%20Funded%20OACIP%20Programs> have met their funding goals to sustainably publish OA, free to read and free to publish, for five years. We are continuing this momentum by launching the third round of journals in need of investment.

New OACIP Participating Journals

We are very excited to announce the journals seeking investments through OACIP in this next round:

  * American Indian Culture and Research Journal<https://bit.ly/OACIP_AICRJ> is among the premier peer-reviewed journals in Native American studies. It is published by the UCLA American Indian Studies Center (AISC) in the United States and will be published through a new partnership with eScholarship Publishing. Production costs an average of $60,000 per year, $30,000 of which the journal has secured from UCLA, their home institution. The journal is seeking $32,250/year for five years.
  * Cultural Anthropology<https://bit.ly/OACIP_CulAnth> is the peer-reviewed journal of the Society for Cultural Anthropology (SCA), a section of the American Anthropological Association (AAA), based in the United States. The journal publishes ethnographic writing informed by a wide array of theoretical perspectives, innovative in form and content, and focused on both traditional and emerging topics. SCA funds nearly half of the journal's budget. The journal is seeking $56,250/year for five years.
  * Engaging Science, Technology, and Society<https://bit.ly/OACIP_ESTS> is a peer-reviewed journal of the Society for the Social Studies of Science (4S) in the United States. The journal is known as a venue for cultivating, evaluating, and sharing cutting-edge research in the social studies of science, technology, and medicine in transnational contexts. ESTS seeks support to enhance its infrastructural contributions to OA publishing and data sharing, and its abilities to editorially support its increasingly diverse community of authors, reviewers, and readers. Incoming contributions will be used to cover approximately half of the journal's annual operating costs and develop an operating reserve. The journal is seeking $40,000/year for five years.
  * International Journal of Strength and Conditioning<https://bit.ly/OACIP_IJSC> is a leading peer-reviewed journal published by the International Universities Strength and Conditioning Association in the United Kingdom. The journal specializes in sport science, sport performance, as well as strength and conditioning. The journal is seeking $28,750/year for five years through OACIP, which is 55% of total operating costs. Member libraries of Jisc in the UK are trying to fund the remaining amount through Jisc's Open Access Community Framework<https://www.jisc.ac.uk/blog/a-new-approach-to-supporting-scholarly-communications-announcing-the-oacf-24-feb-2022>.
  * Language, Literature and Interdisciplinary Studies<https://bit.ly/OACIP_LLIDS> is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Education and Liberal Arts Project (E.L.A. Project) in India. The journal aims to establish a dialogue with scholars worldwide about how language itself has necessitated the progression from a multidisciplinary approach to an interdisciplinary one. The journal is seeking $40,000/year for five years.
  * Liquid Blackness: Journal of Aesthetics and Black Studies<https://bit.ly/OACIP_LiqBlack> is a peer-reviewed journal published by Duke University Press on behalf of liquid blackness Limited in the United States. The journal develops innovative approaches to address points of convergence between the exigencies of Black life and the many ways in which blackness is encountered in contemporary sonic and visual culture.
