Hello everyone!

As part of our core principles, the Content & Scholarly Communication Initiatives team at LYRASIS actively seeks diverse opportunities to affect positive change. We recognize that diverse perspectives create empowered and influential communities. In this vein, then we are eager to share the news about a new partnership with scholar-led publisher, punctum books<https://www.lyrasis.org/content/Pages/product-details.aspx?pid=131969D6-2B80-EB11-80EF-00155D0A2721>. punctum books, founded in 2011 and incorporated in California, USA as a "public benefit" corporation, is a not-for-profit, open-access publisher of high-quality academic books in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Fine Arts, and Architecture & Design.

punctum is devoted to cultivating trans-disciplinary academic work that takes risks with form and style, and to fostering the work of both traditional and non-traditional scholar-researchers, including thought leaders at prestigious universities, early to mid-career researchers at a wide variety of academic institutions, precarious academics, independent scholars, and others who understand the importance of sharing their work with the Open Commons.

punctum does not charge authors publication fees and all editorial, production, and post-production work is conducted in-house in punctum's offices in Santa Barbara, California and The Hague, Netherlands in collaboration with UCSB Library<https://www.library.ucsb.edu/>, California Digital Library<https://cdlib.org/>, OAPEN Library<https://library.oapen.org/browse?type=publisher&value=punctum+books>, Project MUSE<https://muse.jhu.edu/search?action=search&query=publisher:punctum%20books:and&limit=subscription:n&min=1&max=10&t=query_term>, the Coko Foundation<https://coko.foundation/>, and ScholarLed<https://scholarled.org/>.

The Supporting Library Membership Program
The Supporting Library Membership Program is designed to support the ongoing operations, development, sustainability, and governance of a collectively funded open-access publishing platform (punctum books) that cannot exist without consortial investment from university and college libraries, and which returns extremely good value for such investment.
The Institution will provide the Organization with financial support to subsidize:

  1. The publication of at least 35 high-quality open-access books per year in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Fine Arts, and Architecture & Design, with no publication fees imposed upon authors; and
  2. The collaborative development and sustainable maintenance of open-source and community-owned infrastructure for open-access books in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

Membership benefits include the following:

  *   A yearly report detailing Punctum's book releases and the ways in which member funds are being spent;
  *   MARC and ONIX records (KBART files under development);
  *   COUNTER-compliant usage statistics;
  *   Cross-referenced metadata (including DOIs);
  *   Open annotation layer on all of punctum's e-books and e-book chapters;
  *   Long-term preservation of all titles and associated metadata;
  *   Acknowledgment and Institution's logo on the Supporting Library Membership webpage on punctum's website;
  *   Subscription to e-mail list for library partners and to punctum's monthly newsletter;
  *   The right to use punctum's logo in marketing activities;
  * A voting position on punctum's Library Advisory Board for the term of the Agreement; and
  * A 30% discount on all of punctum's print editions purchased directly from punctum.
