Project MUSE Group EBA Program | August 1, 2018 - July 31, 2019

  *   Build-A-Group: Collectively contribute $20,000 in order to open up access to all MUSE EBA-eligible titles.
  *   Libraries will access the EBA-eligible titles for 12 months, and then select the titles for which they want continuing access at the end of that time.
  *   The number of titles a library is allowed to select is based on the amount contributed at the beginning of the program.
  *   Contributions will be tiered based on the Project MUSE Tier System:

o   Tier 1: Minimum $1,000 contribution (Associates Institutions

Open Access and Open Scholarly Communication Programs [Image result for oa lock]

ORCID US Community Membership

*        Four US consortia -- LYRASIS, the Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA), the NorthEast Research Libraries (NERL) consortium, and the Big Ten Academic Alliance -- have formed a unique partnership with ORCID to create a national-level initiative to increase and enhance ORCID integration at US research organizations. This new initiative is the ORCID US Community, and we will be filling a new position here at LYRASIS soon to support the members of this emerging community.

*        Through the ORCID US Community initiative, premium ORCID membership is available to any US research organization. More information about the benefits of premium ORCID membership is available here: https://orcid.org/about/membership.

*        The cost is $4,300 per calendar year, and subscriptions can be pro-rated.


Reveal Digital: HATE IN AMERICA: Newspapers from the rise and fall of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s | 57% Funded!

*        Goal: To digitize and make widely available through open access over 130,000 pages of historic Ku Klux Klan newspapers published from 1915 - 1937

*        Launch: Scheduled to be fully funded by January, 2020, at which time it will become open access.

o   Prior to this date, access to the complete collection will be limited to funding libraries.

*        Support from libraries to digitize this collection is a one-time payment based on institution size:

o   Two year colleges, and smaller public libraries: $2,960.00

o   Bachelors: $3,700.00

o   Masters and medium large public libraries: $4,400.00

o   Other doctorate and large public libraries: $5,920.00

o   ARL libraries: $7,400.00

*        Deadline to make a funding commitment: June 30, 2018


SCOAP3: Call for American Physical Society Subscribers!

*        We are asking libraries that are not yet participating in the SCOAP3 initiative for physics journals to self-identify as subscribers to any of the following American Physical Society journals that now have content in SCOAP3:

o   Physical Review C

o   Physical Review D

o   Physical Review Letters

*        Participation in SCOAP3 is completely cost-neutral to libraries that subscribe to these journals. A portion of your paywalled subscription fee is simply redirected to SCOAP3 to support the publication of selected content in open access.

*        If your library subscribes to at least one of these journals, please fill out the Call for American Physical Society Journal Subscribers survey<https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/X6KGR7J>. We will be in touch before the calendar 2019 renewal season.


Digitization Offers

Creekside Digital

*        LYRASIS members receive an additional 5% discount on all scanned newspaper projects.

*        Projects must be quoted and delivered to their facilities between by May 31st, 2018.

Digital Solutions

  *   Digital Solutions is offering free OCR on all scanning projects over $1,000.
  *   Offer includes a multi-page PDF for each item with uncorrected OCR output.
  *   Additional derivatives (Jp2, txt) are available for the standard LYRASIS member discount.
  *   Document assembly and special naming are not included, but can be quoted upon request.
  *   Projects must be quoted and delivered to their facilities by June 15th, 2018.

*        LYRASIS members receive an additional 10% discount on all audio, video, film and data recovery projects.

*        Projects must be quoted and delivered to their facilities by May 31st, 2018.

Master Enterprises

*        Data entry/keying (text or handwritten), special file naming, digital document assembly or similar project are eligible for an additional 5% discount.

*        Projects must be quoted and delivered to their facilities by June 15th, 2018.
