Join us for our ORCID Workshop for Researchers on August 30th! Please share with your faculty, researchers, students, and others. * When: Wed. Aug. 30, 2023 at 1pm - 2pm Eastern/ 12pm - 1pm Central/ 11am - 12pm Mountain/ 10am - 11am Pacific * Registration Link: ORCID Workshop for Researchers Getting and using your free ORCID iD and ORCID record can help you save time and get credit for your work in funding, publishing, and research reporting workflows. Funding organizations, publishers, and research institutions are increasingly requiring or asking for ORCID iDs from researchers, so this workshop will help you make sure you are ahead of the game. In this workshop, we will cover: * An overview of the benefits of ORCID for researchers * How ORCID can help you save time throughout the research landscape * Tips and tricks for keeping your ORCID record up-to-date No prior experience with ORCID necessary. The session recording will be sent to all who register. See you there! For other upcoming community calls and webinars, please see our Events page. Thank you! The final official list of titles in the collection will be approved by the SCOAP3 Governing Council as of September 1, but due to the relatively short period of time to secure funding, we wanted to share the list with you for consideration now. We do not believe the list is likely to change in a significant way. The titles were carefully reviewed by an international panel of physics experts out of a pool of 60 titles proposed by publishers. Lyrasis is gathering funds from US organizations to support the 2023 SCOAP3 for Books Collection. Among the 21 selected titles are 5 titles targeted to advanced undergraduate students, including 3 that are written specifically to be textbooks. The remaining titles are targeted for graduate students and researchers, including 4 textbooks. We hope that the SCOAP3for Books collection will be of interest to a broad array of institutions that support a robust physics curriculum. All books will be published with CC-BY or CC-BY-NC licenses. There are now 81 physics books in Open Access on the OAPEN platform from the initial SCOAP3 for Books pilot program in 2021. The OAPEN Library hosts more than 25,000 Open Access books across all disciplines. All libraries are invited to participate in the 2023 SCOAP3 for Books program. Call to Action Library funding pledges are being gathered through September 28, 2023. Funds from US libraries will be combined with funds from libraries in other countries around the world to support the SCOAP3 for Books collection. Requested support levels are shown below. Lyrasis will provide invoices to US institutions after the funding period ends. Type of Organization USD Funding Amount Doctoral higher ed institutions and DOE Research Labs $6,600.00 Masters higher ed institutions $4,400.00 Baccalaureate higher ed institutions $1,500.00 Other supporters $500.00 Please enter your funding pledges at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6ST5GJR. We realize this is a relatively short window of time to gather funds, coming at a particularly busy time of the academic year. As the SCOAP3 for Books program matures, we anticipate a longer period of time to gather funds from the library community for future collections. This webinar will be especially helpful to anyone whose organization is interested in exploring the benefits of ORCID membership, or for ORCID member organizations who want to learn more about what other members are doing with ORCID. Feel free to share this with anyone who may be interested. See details and register at: ORCID US Community Showcase #9 See you there!
