From hannah.rosen at lyrasis.org Mon Nov 21 11:29:29 2022 From: hannah.rosen at lyrasis.org (Hannah Rosen) Date: Mon, 21 Nov 2022 16:29:29 +0000 Subject: [Lyropen] New Offer: Open Syllabus Analytics In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Hello all, We are pleased to announce that Lyrasis has established a national partnership with Open Syllabus to offer a new, unique subscription service: Open Syllabus Analytics. Open Syllabus is a nationally recognized non-profit research organization that collects and analyzes millions of syllabi to support novel collection development, teaching and learning applications. Open Syllabus currently has a free syllabus analytics tool called OS explorer - this tool is and will continue to be open to all users, but has limited functionality and does not have data from the last two years. In order to sustainably continue their non-profit work they have developed Open Syllabus Analytics (OSA) as a paid version of Explorer, with up-to-date metrics and enhanced analytical features. OSA is an annual subscription service that provides top-down views of syllabi across thousands of schools to help faculty, staff, and publishers improve student outcomes. Syllabi are made available in normalized, anonymized formats that are searchable via topic, authors, title, etc.The service is extremely flexible and offers myriad use cases that could serve multiple stakeholders within an institution including librarians, faculty, graduate students, provosts and offices of student success. A key difference to note that sets OSA apart from most of our Lyrasis offerings is that OSA is not intended for general student use through a campus site license. Some use cases that will interest various campus stakeholders are: * Analyzing resource adoption across syllabi to inform library collection development * Analyzing topic changes across syllabi to inform library collection development * Analyzing syllabi for OER adoption and impact * Analyzing syllabi for standard learning outcomes as a metric for student success Institutions can search through existing uploaded syllabi (the current count exceeds 16 million), as well as upload their own. OSA can serve as a de facto archive of an institution's syllabi, which can be anonymized and added to the corpus, or, if the institution has privacy concerns, restricted to local access for institutional users. Since this is a new service unlike anything we have offered before, we would like to provide users with two kinds of opportunities to learn more: * Attend a webinar on December 1st, 2022. Lyrasis is hosting a 60-minute webinar introducing OSA on Thursday, December 1, at 1 PM ET. Joe Karaganis, Director of Open Syllabus, will go through the service and talk about the platform, its capabilities and use cases. The webinar will be recorded. Register for the webinar. * Lyrasis is offering users a free, 45 day trial of the service. Users who are interested in a free trial should email hannah.rosen at lyrasis.org.
