Today PLOS and the Big Ten Academic Alliance have announced a three-year commitment of all BTAA members and their affiliates/branch campuses to participate in PLOS Medicine and PLOS Biology's respective Community Action Publishing collectives (https://plos.org/resources/community-action-publishing/). There are a lot of firsts here: 1. This is the first PLOS CAP consortial commitment that was "all in" with all 15 members joining as a group (really understanding the collective action effort represented in this model). 2. This is the first BTAA offering that extends to all members and their affiliates. 3. This is the first multi-state/institutional consortial agreement for PLOS in the US. Maurice York and Rob Van Rennes collaborated closely with us to make this work for their members and we're grateful to them and their members for the nonstop feedback and support in this partnership. Look for updates later in the month on the status of both communities' progress to target. More information on the agreement can be found here: https://theplosblog.plos.org/2021/01/plos-and-the-big-ten-academic-alliance-announce-publishing-deal/ Stay healthy and well, Sara? For those not familiar with IRUS, the service consolidates COUNTER-conformant statistics from repositories and helps to demonstrate their value and impact, both internally and in comparison with other institutions through a new public interface at https://irus.jisc.ac.uk/r5/uk/. The interface provides open access to the comparison of usage data from all participating institutions across the globe. LYRASIS is partnering with Jisc, the national higher ed library membership association in the UK and the developer of IRUS, to create the U.S. based community of users, IRUS-US. Features of the upgrade release: * Supports ease of access and re-use of data * Improves the website appearance and accessibility * New flexible tools enables the user to specify the data needed for delivery in a range of formats to support understanding and analysis: * View data onscreen or export data for use elsewhere (in CSV, TSV, JSON format) * Data visualisation offers quick and easy access to view most used titles * Summary level widget enables institutions to embed IRUS Release 5 statistics within their local website or systems * API enables institutions to harvest data - both COUNTER reports and custom IRUS reports (including provisional daily statistics) - from IRUS for use within local systems * COUNTER R5 conformant statistics enable recording of information about metadata views in addition to downloads of full text items (Investigations and Requests) As mentioned above, the usage data is open access and can be viewed by any user. We encourage everyone to visit the site and experiment with the different reporting options. The IRUS-US service is available for a yearly subscription fee. Please contact Hannah Rosen for more information or to request a quote. Thank you for your continued support of LYRASIS programs. The program's goal is to help match libraries and other prospective funders with non-profit publishers that are seeking financial investments to sustain or transition journals or books to Open Access (OA) publishing. The program's pilot phase, described at length in the program prospectus, has launched crowd-sourced investment opportunities for two journals: Environmental Humanities is an OA journal published by Duke University Press that is seeking investment for editorial and publication services to support an additional OA journal issue each year for five years. As the field of environmental humanities continues its rapid growth and development, the Press and the Editors want to increase the journal's frequency in 2022 from two issues to three issues per year and to provide financial support to the journal's editorial office. The new journal, Combinatorial Theory, will deepen and broaden the impact of its predecessor, embark with an inclusive vision that is international in scope, and be guided by a diverse editorial team seeking top research papers from the global combinatorial community.
