[Lyrarl] Knowledge Unlatched 2016

Colleagues,

I’d like to share the recent announcement from Knowledge Unlatched about the new KU Select 2016 Collection<http://www.knowledgeunlatched.org/ku-select-2016/> of Open Access scholarly ebooks. 54 scholarly publishers, including 21 North American university presses, are providing 343 titles for KU Select 2016.

Features of the KU Select 2016 Collection include:


  *   343 titles available: 147 front list (published from Nov 2016-April 2017) and 196 backlist (published between 2005-2015)
  *   14 subject packages: Anthropology, Archaeology, Classics, Economics & Management, History, Information Science, Languages & Linguistics, Literature, Media & Communications, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Theology & Religion
  *   Flexible title pick and choose option
  *   Publishers provide a 35% discount off list price for purchases of additional formats
  *   Selected by 40 librarians in 12 countries from an initial list of 681 potential titles
  *   Unlatched books are available on Creative Commons licenses as fully downloadable PDFs
  *   Hosting and preservation by OAPEN and HathiTrust. Also preserved by CLOCKSS and Portico
  *   Institutional usage statistics for books in KU Select 2016 will be provided in 2017


Libraries may register now at the new Library Portal<http://www.knowledgeunlatched.org/2016/08/library-portal/> to receive updates and to pledge support for titles in KU Select 2016. Final pledges are due by January 31, 2017.

Supporting libraries may pledge for either:



1)      The complete KU Select 2016 collection of 343 titles (both front list and backlist) for $10,780 - with a minimum pledge required of 90%, or $9,702


OR

2)      The KU Select 2016 front list collection only of 147 titles for $8,085  - with a minimum pledge of 90%, or $7,277


LYRASIS is providing support for KU in North America and will be providing invoices to libraries for their pledged amount.
