The title list contains 61 ebooks from university presses, including individual packages from Duke University Press and the University of Michigan Press. This Round 2 Collection provides a new opportunity for libraries to act as catalysts in the shift towards open access. The successful KU Pilot Project in 2014 was supported by 297 libraries worldwide, including 51 ARL members. I will be glad to answer any questions you may have related to this KU program. LYRASIS is providing administrative support for KU in North America, and pledges of support may be entered at http://collections.knowledgeunlatched.org. Further information is provided below. Best, Celeste *************** Overview The KU Round 2 Collection eBooks will be: * hosted on OAPEN and HathiTrust * given a Creative Commons licence * preserved by CLOCKSS and Portico * provided with accompanying MARC records How It Works There are 8 packages of around 10 titles each within the Round 2 Collection: * Anthropology * Media & Communications * History 1 * Politics * History 2 * Duke University Press * Literature * University of Michigan Press KU invites libraries to pledge a maximum of $3,891 to unlatch the complete Round 2 Collection at $50 per book. Libraries may choose a minimum of 6 packages for $2643, although we hope that you will pledge to unlatch them all. The KU program sets a fixed publishing cost for each title, and the amount paid by each library will decrease when more than 300 libraries sign up. If a title in the KU Round 2 Collection is ordered in any print or electronic format through any channel before April 30, 2016, the library will receive a deduction on the KU unlatching fee for that title. The pledging period is open until January 31, 2016. Register at http://collections.knowledgeunlatched.org and select the packages you would like to pledge to unlatch. If interest in the collection is not sufficient to cover the costs of unlatching, libraries will be released from their pledge. Webinars Join a webinar session led by Dr. Lucy Montgomery, Deputy Director of Knowledge Unlatched, to learn more about the KU Round 2 Collection. A link to a recorded webinar will be shared on this list if you are not able to attend at these times.
