Following on the first offer from OUP last year for University Press Scholarship Online (UPSO), we have developed a second offer through the ARL Licensing Initiative for 2014. I am pleased that the 2014 offer includes better discounts that can be reached much more quickly based on lower numbers of participating libraries than last year.  For example, for the 2014 uploads of content (most but not all titles have 2014 publication dates), the discount structure off list price is as follows. Pricing is also available for the content in 2011-2013 collections.

Any library that places any order is counted as a participant, no matter what collection is purchased.

Last year 15 libraries participated in the UPSO offer, and all are guaranteed at least the same level of discount they received last year since that is now the starting discount for 2014. If at least 6 more libraries participate, all will get better discounts than were available last year. The 2014 offer is based on the number of libraries that purchase collections by February 28, 2014.

I've attached a detailed explanatory memo that discusses many aspects of the offer and addresses concerns about potential overlap with Project MUSE collections since there are now a handful of publishers with content at both MUSE and UPSO. The pricing spreadsheet also is attached. Pricing is based on FTE tiers, and collections are available by subject, publisher, and year.

Oxford is scheduling two webinar sessions to provide more information about UPSO and their work with publishers to host their scholarly ebooks. I will share the registration details for these sessions as soon as I have them.
