Hi Everyone,
[cid:image001.jpg at 01D88ADE.B8B40D10]The day is finally here! After 2 long years, and countless hours of hard work from countless individuals, I am writing on behalf of the Fedora Community alongside the IMLS Grant Pilot Partners, University of Virginia and Whitman College, to share with you the first draft of the IMLS Grant funded – Fedora Migration Paths & Tools Migration Toolkit<https://www.imls.gov/grants/awarded/lg-246264-ols-20>.

DRAFT-  Migration Toolkit<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZGrofJU-vAYOitGJabJ10Brcvo_oFjTO46FxEK7vmgM/edit?usp=sharing>

This toolkit contains all of the necessary details, instructions and templates to aid and assist in migrations from Fedora 3 to the newest version of the software released in June 2021 – Fedora 6.0. Through the collaboration of both pilot partner institutions, and input from Born Digital and the Fedora community, we are proud to present this toolkit as an instructional document intended to provide insight into the process of migration from those who have successfully done so.

We have shared use cases, lessons learned as well as templates and processes with the goal of lowering barriers to migration.

What we need from you:
We are asking for your help in reviewing the Toolkit content. We are looking for is for institutions and teams to thoroughly review the document, test out the processes and procedures, and provide feedback. All of the documents are currently being shared via Google Docs, and commenting should be open, so you can simply leave your feedback directly in the document for review. Once all the feedback has been collected, the Pilot Partners will convene to review the changes before officially releasing this to the public.

While this Toolkit is intended for those institutions running instances of Fedora 3, we will gladly accept any and all feedback from other institutions. Please do not feel as though your comments are not relevant or important!

We are asking that all comments be entered by JULY 29, 2022.

Special thanks goes out to the following for all of their hard work seeing this process through to completion:

  *   Danny Bernstein
  *   Amy Blau
  *   Dana Bronson
  *   Mike Durbin
  *   Kun Lin
  *   Steve Majewski
  *   Paige Morfitt
  *   Ben Murphy
  *   Robin Ruggaber
  *   Noah Smith
  *   Alan Stanley
  *   Andrew Woods
  *   Dara Virks
  *   David Wilcox

Thank you in advance for helping us to complete this process. We are excited to be finally completing this grant work and making all these resources available for the community. This work will significantly impact Fedora users at all levels and we hope that we can continue to work toward lowering all barriers to migration.

Please feel free to reach out to myself, Arran Griffith (arran.griffith at lyrasis.org<mailto:arran.griffith at lyrasis.org>), Amy Blau at Whitman College (blauar at whitman.edu<mailto:blauar at whitman.edu>) or Robin Ruggaber at the University of Virginia (robin.ruggaber at virginia.edu<mailto:robin.ruggaber at virginia.edu>) for any questions or comments.
