Echo-ing this response -- we only use AO-level top containers, since it's easy to identify the box and folder number with the bulk AO import spreadsheet. We do all our processing to the folder level anyway. </div>

I have recently started linking top containers to accessions, which is similar to linking to the resource level. This is just to help us keep better track of accession boxes before they get processed. I don't use the accession import sheet because we are typically
 just doing one accession every so-often, but think kind of linking is a bit more of a pain because I can't create OR attach the top containers in batches. </div>

<p class="x_MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">We’ve done some infrequent linking of top containers to collection level records, in a couple of cases. One would be if the resource is describing the materials at the collection level, for us typically
 just one or two boxes, so there aren’t any further components to attach top containers to. The other scenario is during shelf reading, if we come across unexpected boxes on the shelf (i.e. under-described part of an adjacent collection, or something that never
 made it into ASpace). Linking top containers at the collection level is a great way to capture what’s there and include locations.</span></p>
