: John Rawls’ library, has a few non-book items, but chiefly the metadata was obtained by copy-cataloging the books, adding holdings and a 700 field for “Former owner” and grabbing selected fields from library catalog records. This data was then converted
to EAD. The finding aid serves as a “binder” to understand the scope and significance of the library as a whole. This was processed in the last couple of decades. Having these in the general catalog as well as in a finding aid has absolutely lead to the heavy
use of this collection. <o:p></o:p></p>
