<p>As a rule, I usually pick the last point release in a series as expected to be the least buggy. </p>
<p>In this case, that would be 1.5.4 and 2.1.2 . </p>
<p>You can also look at the release notes for the point releases and see if any of the bug fixes seem significant or necessary. But when in doubt, I'ld go for the latest minor release in a series. </p>

<p>says that migrating from 1.4.2 or lower REQUIRES an intermediate upgrade to something between 1.5.0 and 2.0.1. But due to some problems we've seen from the container migration, see email thread from back in January with Subject: Indexer Errors in 1.5.2 </p>

<p>and probably some other threads, I recommend migrating first to 1.5.x and fixing all of the container issues before upgrading again. Going from 1.4.2 to 2.0.x without fixing the problems caused the indexer to break, but made it more difficult to find the
problem resources. </p>

<p>I don't find a 'database.dat' file anywhere in my distribution or anywhere that a file with that names is required. What error are you seeing and on what step? Did you run the scripts/setup-database.{sh,bat} command ? </p>
