So, just to check, the issue you had on Windows 2008 server were related to your network?

On a Windows 7 desktop, the setup is pretty much the same. You'll need to have java installed and MySQL for the database ( unless you're using a remote MySQL server, which in that case you'll need to make sure the firewall is open ) . If you're wanting to
have it run as a service, I think most Windows folks have found deploying with Tomcat to be the best option....otherwise, you can just launch the application as needed.
