I'm particularly eager to hear about the import template (question #1 below) because the ability to handle (import and export) metadata for digital items in aggregate and move that metadata between systems will be crucial for our workflow going forward. Is there another updated CSV template I should be using? Or should I not be considering CSV import as an efficient way to feed digital object metadata into ArchivesSpace and instead focus on other methods?

Thanks so much for your help.
Wendy

From: "Wendy Hagenmaier" <wendy.hagenmaier@library.gatech.edu>
To: "archivesspace users group" <archivesspace_users_group@lyralists.lyrasis.org>
Sent: Thursday, July 17, 2014 5:38:11 PM
Subject: [Archivesspace_Users_Group] Digital Object CSV Import Questions

Hello!

I'm trying to test the Digital Object CSV import on v1.0.9 and have a few questions:

1) I could very well be missing something obvious, but it seems like the DigitalObject-CSV-mapping-2013-02-26.xlsx and ArchivesSpaceDigitalObjectTemplate.xlsx (sourced from http://www.archivesspace.org/importexport) do not contain all of the metadata fields represented in the Admin UI for creating a digital object or component. For example, the fields in the header rows of the mapping and template CSVs don't seem to include File Versions info (including File URI), Notes, or Rights Statements. Does that mean you can't bulk import File Versions, Notes, and Rights Statements info via CSV or does that mean that the template/mapping is out of date with the current ASpace Digital Object record model? Is there an updated template/mapping I'm missing? This is the most recent PivotalTracker story I could find: https://www.pivotaltracker.com/s/projects/386247/stories/45367639 And https://github.com/archivesspace/archivesspace/wiki still links to the Import/Export Mappings I found here: http://www.archivesspace.org/importexport.

2) Within the Admin UI view of a digital object component record (either imported via CSV or created via the Admin UI), under "Basic Information," there's a funky field displaying the following: "translation missing: False en.digital_object_component.has_unpublished_ancestor" Perhaps this has been noted elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything in a search of listserv emails and PivotalTracker.

Thanks so much for any insight about these questions!
Wendy

--

Wendy Hagenmaier
Digital Collections Archivist
Archives & Records Management
Georgia Institute of Technology Library
Atlanta, GA 30332-0900
wendy.hagenmaier@library.gatech.edu
(404) 894-4579
library.gatech.edu/archives
facebook.com/gtarchives

_______________________________________________
Archivesspace_Users_Group mailing list
Archivesspace_Users_Group@lyralists.lyrasis.org
http://lyralists.lyrasis.org/mailman/listinfo/archivesspace_users_group
