[Archivesspace_Users_Group] Git cloning practice

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you don't use the packaged releases, you'll also need to build a release locally from the tag. The code tree won't run without additional steps.

Best,
Joshua

You could check for differences on GitHub, for example:

https://github.com/archivesspace/archivesspace/compare/v3.4.1...release-v3.4.x

Or you could try cloning the branch then doing:

git reset --hard v3.4.1

I use release zips, so I haven't tested it myself.

Andrew.

Hi folks

My current processes involve picking up a repo through git clone, rather than going to the tag pages and downloading zips.

Is it acceptable to clone the "release-v3.4.x" branch and use the code in there? I'm assuming that the released 3.4.0 goes there, then 3.4.1 and so on, so I'd never be picking up anything unstable, but just wanted to make absolutely sure. I wouldn't ever use the master branch because I know it isn't stable and have been stung by that before!

Cheers
Scott
