[Archivesspace_Users_Group] Bulk updating Top Container locations

Hi Kara,

I have a Python script that uses the API to update top container locations, but it does so by top container IDs, not by barcode. I’m not sure you can query by barcode using the API.

Anyway, it’s attached here with a .txt extension instead of .py because Outlook will prevent me from receiving such files and I assume the listerv might prevent them as well. Please let me know if you have any questions. I am not an API or Python expert, but I can usually accomplish what I need with the API.

Hi community,
Here at Wellesley we're undergoing a large renovation that is requiring us to move out of the building. We are looking to bulk edit our top container locations by barcode, as that is what our vendor will be providing us to track our collections.

I see there seems to be an easy way to do this under the Bulk Operations in the Top Container Management function.  I'm finding that I can only search for 247 barcodes at one time. Anything above that gives a "we're sorry, but something went wrong" error message.

We're thinking of maybe trying to use the API instead, but I'm not very experienced with the API at
all.

Has anyone else undergone a similar project?  Did you also see this 247 barcode limitation?  Has anyone done this using the API and willing to share some insight?
