Thanks for the feedback, Wendy. I think the issue you’re pointing out is one of terminology when there is a value with a Boolean like Publish. You can choose to display these, and you can choose to narrow by a value or Yes, a value of No, or no value at all. You are correct that the blank option would be the one to select if you check of Display on these, but don’t want to limit which records display. We’ll look into how to make that clearer.

We’re aiming to have the release with custom reports out by the end of the year, though there are many factors that will impact the specific timing. We’ll have more information to share in the coming weeks.

Thank you, Christine! I gave this a test and it does indeed have just the functionality that we are seeking!

As for feedback, I only gave it three tries, and selecting fields to include worked well. The place that I had a bit of trouble was understanding how the combination "Display"/"Narrow by Values" was working. If one does not click Display, does one still need to narrow by a value, or, if one does not want to narrow by a value, does one need to select the blank option in the dropdown, even if one has not checked Display? What I was trying to do was to see if I could generate a report that included all of the resources present in the sandbox, but the test runs, despite my various selections of Display/Narrow by Values, I all 3 times ended up with a list of only 2 of the 10 resources. I was probably just not clicking the right combination of Display/Narrow by Value options, so maybe just a revision of terminology or rollover instructions or something like that would help.

But this is an exciting feature--when is the new release?!

There may be plugins and community solutions that people can share, but we are working on some custom reports functionality that we hope to put into the next release of ArchivesSpace. It’s still in progress, but testable on the test server at http://test.archivesspace.org (username admin, password admin). The way it works is that a user creates re-runnable templates for custom reports using the Custom Report Templates option on the gear menu, and then can use the templates when selecting the new Custom Reports option in the reports area.

Dear Adrien,

An extremely belated followup to your message about creating custom reports. We are especially in need of an export of a csv list from the SUI of resource record level data (either a full dump or selectable fields) to gather data for reporting purposes. I think this matches one that you described in your message. Did you move ahead with developing this report, or perhaps find one that already existed? Do any other list members know of such a report or plugin that can be installed and then activated from the SUI?
