[Archivesspace_Users_Group] Legacy Migration Question

We are working with V2.0.1. I still don't see that container summary under with the <extent> tag but I'll do another test to see if it comes up. I'll get back with you on the related_accessions and repository_processing_note. We are just doing basic tests right now and will get to the more complex stuff later.

Thanks Steve

( Please include version of ArchivesSpace you’re using: the export/import mappings have been getting quite a few revisions lately. )

Extent/container_summary does get exported as the text to EAD <extent> element. ( At least in latest version I tested. )

It appears that calendar and era are both mapped on EAD import, but aren’t exported properly. This should be reported as a bug on JIRA ( and likely can be easily fixed in next release ).

The publish button isn’t exported directly, but whether or not an item is published. ‘Include unpublished’ is the default setting for export EAD. You can unselect this. If you include unpublished, the @audience attribute should be set to ‘internal’ for unpublished items. ( This action, I think, was also a fairly recent update. )

For related_accessions and repository_processing_note, I’m not sure there’s an obvious mapping to EAD. Do you have suggestions for how these should be handled ?

In general, for export/import issues, I suggest you look first at the original mappings documentation on

http://archivesspace.org/application/data-import-and-export-maps/<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__archivesspace.org_application_data-2Dimport-2Dand-2Dexport-2Dmaps_&d=DwMGaQ&c=URKFmO0h1-PpCttSQ3v_bEhalPi_sNmh-_LG0Bso5YA&r=b3souzMEzT-OJXsXOvK9YInkZPMZDws8WozdGpuzrcA&m=gLwH2qNzwZvXwn29zs6sE8vWJIC75M4a-xO9VoD05Rg&s=fRgKnVI1gKf6CBQf4UJbeNz_uftAzsRv9vc1wztDeLc&e=>

and then check JIRA issues to see if it’s a bug in a specified mapping, or if it’s something unspecified in the mappings.
You can report either, or up vote an existing issue, but an addition or change to the mappings may take some more discussion on the list to see if it’s generally accepted or not.

If you need to do some custom mapping, you can modify or extend the converters and exporters in a local plugin.

We are migrating legacy resource records from FileMakerPro to AS. We are writing a python script to transfer all the information. The problem I am running into is that the EAD that I am exporting from AS to make the template is not exporting all of the fields. For example, related accessions, repository processing note, container summary, publish, calendar and a few others. Is there a way to get a more comprehensive EAD?

Thank you
