[Archivesspace_Users_Group] "share" boxes / group boxes

Kate,

When linking a top container in this way, you just need to go to "Browse" instead of Create. On the Browse list, just find the top container that you want to link to from whatever context and then link to it (it's often easiest to search for the other collection's finding aid title, for instance).

Here's an example from the ArchivesSpace sandbox:

http://sandbox.archivesspace.org/top_containers/7

You'll see that /top_containers/7 is shared by two different collections in the same repository. The only catch is that you can only share a top container if and only if it's part of the same repository.

Sorry for the lack of screenshots, but hopefully that makes sense. If not, I can write something else up later today.

All my best,

Mark

Subject: [Archivesspace_Users_Group] "share" boxes / group boxes

On Yale's (very helpful) web site http://guides.library.yale.edu/archivesspace/ASpaceContainerManagement there is this intriguing mention:
The ability to "share" boxes across entire collections in a meaningful way. Let's say that you want to put all of the panoramic photos in your repository into the same container. With this new data model, you'll be able to keep much better control over that container.

However, I've not been able to figure out how this ought to be done.

Is anyone using AS to share boxes across multiple collections? If so, would you be willing to send a few screenshots or any documentation that you have?

I'd be very grateful!

Thanks,

Kate
