I believe that this would only add the tracking code to the headers of the public interface pages (local/public/views), right?
In any event, just adding GA to the current public interface might not result in the best set of data, in my opinion, since component URLs are not tied to collections, collection URLs are not tied to repositories, etc. Of course, there should be some good ways to get around this (better metadata!), and that will be part of the public redesign project.
For those of you already using GA on your public ASpace sites, what has been your experience? Is anyone using Google Tag Manager with ASpace, tracking custom events, etc.? Also, would you be willing to share any of your stats?
Mark

Hey Chris,
This is great. Can you confirm whether this is applicable to the staff interface too or are these instructions aimed at tracking usage in the public interface?
Thanks,
Ben

Hi,
There was a request on how to enable google analytics in ASpace. I was going to write a plugin for this, but it's actually so simple, it might be easiest just to use the local plugin instead of having a dedicated plugin.
Steps:
1) Enroll in Google Analytics, register your site ( you don't need to include the port number in the URL ) , and get your tracking code ( it'll be a block of javascript )
2) Ensure that the local plugin is enabled in your config/config.rb ( it is by default )
3) add your tracking code to a file called plugins/local/public/views/layout_head.html.erb
4) Restart ASpace
Once the server restarts, you should start seeing traffic come in on the real time app window.
best, Chris.
