[Archivesspace_Users_Group] component moving problem

I'd like to jump in on this conversation and say that we were having component reordering problems as well. It was happening on both objects migrated from AT and objects created directly in AS.

The upgrade to 1.1.2 and the resequence_on_startup apparently fixed the issues we were having. I can't say that they were the exact same issues with certainty, but we were seeing a component move to the bottom or close to the bottom of a component list each time we edited it and then reopened the resource.

Hello,

We have experienced such issues as well. There doesn't appear to be a specific reason as to why or how this is happening on our end either. We've resequenced the database and still experience issues.

Our problems have occurred in records that were originally created in AS. We have other records that have been transferred over from Archon (we did not use Archives Toolkit), but we haven't tinkered with the Archon legacy data enough to be sure that the same reorganization problems are occurring with those.

It is hard to tell, but on our end the problems all seem to be random, and it is difficult to try and come up with a specific reason why they are happening. (They don't happen with every newly created AS finding aid, just some.)

To follow up, I have been looking at this some more this afternoon.
I just edited four components that were created in AT and imported to AS, and they did not change location after I saved and closed the record.

The three cases I referenced below and others that I have documented since have all been cases where the individual component being edited was created in AS, even when the resource record it belongs to was originally from AT.

I have not tested this enough to be 100% certain that the problem never occurs with components imported from AT, but I am starting to think that may be the case.

Hello,
This is to confirm that we are still experiencing exactly the same problem as reported by Lindsay and Allyson. We are using v 1.1.2; the same issue occurred in previous versions. After editing a component, saving, and closing the record, the edited component consistently moves to the bottom of the list, regardless of its original location.

Hello,

We have also been having similar problems with our collection content reorganizing itself. We have recently jumped from v.1.0.9 to v.1.1.2, and have not been able to test the new version to see if the same problem has been occurring.

As Lora said, I have continued to have problems with components moving out of order after being edited. Below are my notes on three times when the problem occurred and screenshots.

Resource record A1212
On January 22 shortly before 10:30am, I added a location to Box 6, Frame 1.
a1212_1 shows the list of components immediately after I made the change and hit save.
a1212_2 shows the list after I clicked "Close Record." The component has moved to the bottom of the list. This is a resource record that had been exported from AT. However, the component itself was created in AS. The collection has no series.

Resource record A1296
On January 22 at 10:35am, I assigned the instance "Box 2" to the component "Framed image of 1918 basketball team."
a1296_1 shows the list of components before the instance was assigned.
a1296_2 shows the list after the instance was assigned and I had clicked Save.
a1296_3 shows the list after I clicked "Close Record." The component has moved to the bottom of the list. This resource record was created in AS - it was not imported from AT. The collection has no series.

Resource record A1002
On January 26 at 11:20am, I edited the title of the component for Box 39, Folder 8 (Union College...). I clicked Save, then clicked on another component but did not make any changes. I then clicked Close Record. The component moved out of order.
a1002_1 shows the list of components after I edited and saved the record. I had clicked on another component, but did not make any changes to it.
a1002_2 shows the list after clicking Close Record. This is a resource record that had been exported from AT. However, the component itself was created in AS. This is large collection with multiple series.
Thank you in advance for any help/advice,
Allyson
