<p class="MsoNormal">In recent months we’ve been working to update both the content and the format of our technology and development roadmap. The result is attached, and we’d love your feedback before distributing it more widely in the community. We’ve created
the roadmap in Excel but are distributing the individual views as a PDF file to ensure that everyone sees the same thing. When we post the updated roadmap to the website it will be as a series of PDFs linked from our wiki page for this (<a href="https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ADC/pages/18710568/Road+Map">https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ADC/pages/18710568/Road+Map</a>).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">By its nature, the roadmap includes more detail in the near term, but more tentative information about improvements planned further out. In 2018, we’ll aim to update it after every release.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">A few notes about this new format: Something new we’ve added is an impact score (1-3) for each development item to give people a sense of the relative complexity and degree of improvement it represents in the application. An explanation
of what the different impact scores mean and the criteria for determining them is included at the end of the first view. The impact scores enable us to represent the value of different development projects visually for stakeholders who may be less familiar
with the specifics of archival practice or application maintenance.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Our roadmap now consists of a series of views targeted at the needs of different kinds of ArchivesSpace stakeholders. Here are the views included in the new roadmap:<o:p></o:p></p>

<ol style="margin-top:0in" start="1" type="1">
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo3">An All Details view that presents our four categories of development and detailed information on where each development item is in the process, any associated JIRA tickets, who is responsible for it, and
when it is targeted for release. This view also highlights items for which we are particularly interested in having community developer contributions. This will be the view for those who are really immersed in an institution’s ArchivesSpace planning or who
are looking to get involved in the activities of development, as well as people following a particular feature through the development process. (pages 1-6)<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo3">An Annual Overview view that provides some detail about development in each category for each release during the year and its relative impact. This may be most appropriate for a department head or systems
person who needs to know the end result of ArchivesSpace development throughout the year, but could be useful for anyone who want to have a sense of the releases that are going to be most important to implement, but not all the information leading up to them.

wants to see that and how ArchivesSpace is progressing. (page 11)<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l0 level1 lfo3">Release-specific views that list what’s included in a specific release. These will be appropriate for anyone looking for a snapshot of what was or will be in each release. (pages 12-21)<o:p></o:p></li></ol>
