From Jessica.Crouch at lyrasis.org Fri Jul 7 09:19:27 2023 From: Jessica.Crouch at lyrasis.org (Jessica Crouch) Date: Fri, 7 Jul 2023 13:19:27 +0000 Subject: [Archivesspace_uac] Registration and session proposals now open for the 9th annual ArchivesSpace member forum (Session proposals due July 10) In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: [A picture containing text, screenshot, graphic design, fireworks Description automatically generated] Dear ArchivesSpace members, Registration is still available for our 9th Annual ArchivesSpace Member Forum in person in the Georgetown room of the Washington Hilton on July 26, 2023, from 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM. In addition to this in-person opportunity to meet, we will also be holding a virtual learning opportunity about new ArchivesSpace functionality on July 18, 2023. Registration is now open for both the in-person meeting and the pre-forum virtual workshop, though the schedule for the in-person meeting is still being developed. Just as in previous years, this will be a free opportunity for staff from ArchivesSpace member institutions to meet and share information with each other and the program team about all things ArchivesSpace. We encourage everyone planning to attend to consider submitting a session proposal. Proposals are due by next Monday, July 10. Brief 15-20 minute sessions showing off your organization?s implementation of ArchivesSpace, a tool or plug-in you?ve developed, a project your organization has undertaken or a new workflow you?ve developed are highly encouraged. There is a short Google form for proposals available at https://forms.gle/D8rpFY5PrVzp9cmW9. We are particularly excited to have as much community participation as possible in this forum since this year also marks the 10th year of ArchivesSpace! We hope that this year?s forum will be an opportunity for staff from ArchivesSpace member institutions to meet and share information with each other and the program team about how they?ve been using ArchivesSpace, whether they?ve been using it for 10 years or 10 months. Please feel free to contact ArchivesSpace Community Engagement Lead Jessica Crouch (jessica.crouch at lyrasis.org) with questions. We look forward to seeing you in person or virtually and celebrating 10 years of ArchivesSpace. Julia Novakovic, currently the Small membership level representative and the Chair of the Board for the 2023-24 membership term, is leaving her current position at The Strong National Museum of Play for a new position at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) as of July 14. We are delighted that Julia is moving to another member institution and remaining with us in the ArchivesSpace community. There is precedent for a member to stay on as Chair as an ex officio, non-voting member and we are also grateful that she has agreed to continue in that role. However, since RIT is a Medium membership level member of ArchivesSpace, this change left an upcoming vacancy for the Small level representative. The ArchivesSpace Bylaws state that in the event of a vacancy the Program Manager works with the Board to appoint someone to fill the opening through the end of the original person's term. Julia's term as Small representative was scheduled to end June 30, 2024. The Board considered different options and we are delighted to announce that Kat Stefko, Associate Librarian for Digital Initiatives and Special Collections at Bowdoin College, will be rejoining the Board for a one-year appointment until the next election for the Small level. Kat previously served on the Board as the Small level representative from 2018-2021 and her knowledge and institutional memory will be especially valuable as we have multiple new Board members this year. The next election for the Small level representative will take place, in cycle, as part of the next nominating season, which will begin in early 2024. The full listing of the current Governance Board is on our website. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Our thanks to both Julia and Kat for their willingness to serve the ArchivesSpace community in this way. Suzanne and I are looking to schedule our combined TAC and UAC meeting in September, where we will go over workplans and make space for potential connections or conversations across the Councils. Please fill out this Doodle poll by *Friday, July 28th*. If you are attending SAA this year, I'd recommend responding before you head to Washington, D.C. As soon as you fill out the poll, I'll take you off the list of any reminders I send, so the sooner you respond, the fewer emails you will get from me! We are so looking forward to this term and working with you all. Take care, Rachel (TAC Chair) and Suzanne (UAC Chair) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Believe it or not, it's already time to schedule our first UAC meeting of the new term. Please fill out this Doodle poll with your availability by the end of day on Monday July 31st. Please note when filling out the poll: Ideally, we will hold future monthly meetings at the same time selected for the first meeting. So for example, if our first meeting is Monday August 14 at 1pm ET, then future meetings will be held on the second Monday of the month at 1pm ET. September Joint TAC/UAC meeting: You should have already received a Doodle poll from Rachel Searcy for scheduling our joint TAC/UAC meeting in September. Please let me know if you did not receive it. The joint meeting will be scheduled at a different time than our normal monthly meeting. If you are a sub-team lead: please note that workplans for the 2023-2024 will be due in September during our joint meeting with TAC. Please keep this in mind as you plan your initial meeting of the term. Please note that it does not need to occur before our August UAC meeting. I am looking forward to working with all of you this term. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
