Just a reminder that this year's Council leadership training includes one live class, which will be held on September 10 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. ET/10:00-11:00 a.m. PT. The description is below. Everyone on the Councils is welcome, but we especially encourage sub-team leads and vice leads, and those who are considering leadership in the future, to attend. Please RSVP to me by tomorrow if you'd like to attend.

Managing Remote Teams

Managers and leaders who may be accustomed to working with teams face to face may run into challenges when organizing and collaborating with virtual teams. This webinar will provide tips for people managing remote workers on effectively managing teams in a virtual environment. The presenter will cover skills to improve virtual communication, and consider productivity and burnout in a virtual environment. The webinar will provide an opportunity for both managers and participants on remote teams to reflect on their communication systems and policies, assess what is working, and improve modes of virtual communication and collaboration.

Hello Council members,

In response to suggestions that came out of the Council leadership meeting<https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AC/pages/2140667907/2021-02-10+TAC+UAC+Leadership+Meeting> last February, the TAC/UAC Coordinating Committee has assembled a pilot program to offer some different kinds of leadership training to Council members. This optional program is aimed at helping people gain skills in areas like project management, decision making, and managing teams, and to improve confidence in leadership situations. We hope this will be helpful to you not just in your ArchivesSpace Council work, but also other professional and personal activities in which you are involved.

We're starting with one live course and a suite of recorded trainings from LYRASIS Learning. Access is free as a perk of Council membership. The live course, Managing Remote Teams, will be offered on September 10 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. ET/10:00-11:00 a.m. PT. The Coordinating Committee has also put together some resources specific to ArchivesSpace Council leadership and participation. More information about these will be sent out separately.

Access to these training resources is happening on a pilot basis and there are many possibilities for how this program can be navigated and used by Council members who are interested. There was a great discussion of the program in the last UAC meeting, and it will be discussed at other upcoming TAC and UAC meetings as well. Please feel free to get in touch with me or your Council leaders if you have thoughts or questions. We look forward to your participation and feedback.
