You can download it at https://github.com/archivesspace/archivesspace/releases/tag/v2.3.0. This release contains a number of community pull requests along with a few bug fixes, some reports updates, and the start of the enhancement of the Agents module (JIRA with the full specification available at https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/browse/AR-1779). The most notable bug fixes are: * repairing component scrambling that can happen when exporting EAD after re-ordering tree nodes * enabling the use of a proxy prefix * correcting digital object linking problems in the public interface The full list of bug fixes and improvements is included in the release notes. Thanks to community members Mark Cooper, Chris Fitzpatrick, Bobbi Fox, and Blake Carver for their contributions. We are also very appreciative of the work of our Development Prioritization sub-team, Testing sub-team, and Core Committers Group in helping prioritize, test, and do code review for issues for this release. The first work on the enhanced Agents module is included in this release, namely a new feature that allows systems administrators and repository managers to add fields to the required field list in the Agents Record for all four types of agents. We are thankful to developer Alyx Rossetti for her work on this feature. Additional agents specification work will be included in upcoming releases. Information on upgrading to a new version of ArchivesSpace is available at http://archivesspace.github.io/archivesspace/user/upgrading-to-a-new-release-of-archivesspace/. If you have not already upgraded to a 2.2.x version, we recommend going directly to 2.3.0, though, depending on the version you are coming from, you should read the special considerations for upgrading from/to different versions that are linked to from the upgrading document first. The session is limited to the first 100 participants. Please feel free to host a webinar viewing group. The webinar will be recorded and available for viewing at a later date. Webinar description: The new ArchivesSpace Assessments Module made a quiet debut in October 2017 with the v2.2.0 release. The assessments module was made possible by many individuals: Tufts University subsidized this project, and the development was done by Hudson Molonglo. Dan Santamaria and Adrienne Pruitt took the lead on the Tufts side in working closely with HM developers, and also coordinated putting the module out for wider testing, in which people at institutions including the Smithsonian, Smith College, University of Michigan Special Collections, and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania participated. With the assessments tool now available in ArchivesSpace, many are wondering how it might be incorporated into their collection management workflows. In this webinar, Dan Santamaria will provide insight into the role assessment plays within the wider picture of collection management, and why the institution was compelled to fund its development. Adrienne Pruitt will discuss the development process, run through a demo of the module, and talk about how it's helping with a collection-wide survey at Tufts. Christie Peterson will share how Smith College will use the assessments module in the coming year, and her experience with various manifestations of managing assessments. Please feel free to bring any questions you have. Presenters: Dan Santamaria (Director of Digital Collections and Archives, Tufts University) oversees all of Digital Collections and Archives staff, collections, and services with primary responsibility for strategic direction, planning, management, and collection development. Adrienne Pruitt (Collections Management Archivist, Tufts University) oversees collection management and archival processing. This includes managing preservation, assessing collections, and planning and prioritizing processing work. Christie Peterson (Head of Technical Services, Smith College) helps make sure the unique materials in the Mortimer Rare Book Collection, the College Archives, and the Sophia Smith Collection are discoverable, usable, and well cared for. Who should attend: Everyone interested in how the Assessments Module was developed into ArchivesSpace and how it may be implemented and used. Questions? Development ArchivesSpace v2.3.0 was released earlier this month. It is available for download at https://github.com/archivesspace/archivesspace/releases/tag/v2.3.0. This release contains a number of community pull requests along with a few bug fixes, some reports updates, and the start of the enhancement of the Agents module (JIRA with the full specification available at https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/browse/AR-1779). The full list of bug fixes and improvements is included in the release notes. Please note: another small release will be coming out later next week. Deadline for Pull Requests A note for developers and coders in ArchivesSpaceland: Just a reminder that the deadline by which a pull request needs to be submitted for consideration for the March 2018 release is March 16. Please submit any pull requests no later than the end of your day on March 16. Pull requests submitted after March 16 will be considered for a future release. (Please note that submitting a pull request by the deadline does not guarantee that it will go into the next release, but it will help ensure that we have adequate time to review and test it before potentially putting it into a release. In general, the pull request deadline is the third Friday of a month in which a release is scheduled, with occasional exceptions when a release is intended to come out earlier in the month.) If you have any questions, please get in touch. Thanks so much for your contributions and your help in making ArchivesSpace better! Upcoming Releases Curious about what's to come in future releases? Check out the roadmap: https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ADC/pages/18710568/Roadmap Some Changes in JIRA As many of you know, we have been using JIRA for our development catalog (http://development.archivesspace.org) for several years now. In the last year eagle-eyed JIRA watchers may have noticed that some issues start with AR numbers while others start with ANW. The reason for that is that we've been slowly phasing in a new "project" (in JIRA's parlance) and associated workflow with more user-friendly issue statuses with the intent of retiring our former project and workflow. The new workflow is illustrated and explained at https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ADC/pages/490536963/Workflow+Diagram+and+Narrative. We've now consolidated all active issues into the ANW project and retired the AR project. The ANW project is now the one place to look for active issues. The AR project is still there but is now read-only; if an issue is in AR it's because the development work has been done to incorporate it into the application or it is no longer under consideration. You can still search or browse for older issues to get a sense of what's been done or considered over time, but you will not be able to edit or comment on these issues. We encourage you to open a new issue in the ANW project if you want to restart an earlier discussion on an accepted or closed issue or think you're observing something now that appeared to have been fixed previously. Once active issues in ANW are closed, they will remain in the ANW project. Because the statuses in ANW are easier to understand, we think you'll find it easier to tell than in the past which issues are still open and which are not. We're hosting a webinar in April titled A Bug's Life in which members of our Development Prioritization sub-team will walk through JIRA and the development process specifically as they pertain to reporting and fixing bugs. You are very welcome to send us any questions or thoughts you have ahead of time that may help shape the content for it. And please feel free to get in touch with Christine (christine.dibella at lyrasis.org) or Laney (laney.mcglohon at lyrasis.org) if you have other questions about JIRA and how we use it in general. Southern California Regional Forum: Announcement & Call for Working Group Volunteers We are happy to announce that another regional forum will be coming to Southern California in June 2018 at the University of California, Irvine. We would love for the content to be shaped by the community. This working group will focus on identifying program content, connecting with presenters, and suggesting local arrangements. Additionally, other potential tasks will include hands-on assistance during the forum such as running the registration table and taking notes. The program team will take care of any details concerning cost and logistics. If you (or you know someone interested) would like to join the working group to plan the ArchivesSpace Regional Forum in Southern California, feel free to email Kim at christine.kim at lyrasis.org by March 15th. Please let me know if you have any questions, and thank you for considering. New Stories on the Blog We have new stories posted on the blog! Questions? This minor release contains several community pull requests and bug fixes. You can download this release at https://github.com/archivesspace/archivesspace/releases/tag/v2.3.1. Of particular interest may be a contribution from Mark Cooper that makes an addition to the standard config file that allows a system administrator to more easily set parameters for solr, including specifying that the default search behavior for the staff and public interfaces be to join search terms with AND rather than OR. (See Users Group listserv thread at http://lyralists.lyrasis.org/pipermail/archivesspace_users_group/2018-February/005647.html for more context.) The full list of changes is included in the release notes. Information on upgrading to a new version of ArchivesSpace is available at http://archivesspace.github.io/archivesspace/user/upgrading-to-a-new-release-of-archivesspace/. If you have not already upgraded to 2.3.0, we would recommend going directly to 2.3.1, but if you have already upgraded to 2.3.0 and would find it difficult to upgrade again so soon, we suggest upgrading to this release only if you need one of its specific changes right now. We expect to put out a bigger release at the end of March. Thanks to the community members who contributed their time, energy, and coding skills to this release. If you have any questions or need help upgrading, please let us know.
