Taking place April 4-5, 2023, our Virtual Member Forum will be a two-day event spanning a variety of time zones and ArchivesSpace experience levels. Anyone from an ArchivesSpace member organization is welcome to attend. As in years past, this free event will include a mix of opportunities to share and learn from each other about many different aspects of ArchivesSpace. We plan to hold the meeting in some form no matter what but the success of our forums is dependent on the participation of members and their willingness to share their knowledge and experience with others in the community. To that end, everyone attending the forum is strongly encouraged to consider submitting a proposal. Brief 15-20 minute sessions showing off your organization?s implementation of ArchivesSpace, a tool or plug-in you?ve developed, a project your organization has undertaken or a new workflow you?ve developed are highly encouraged. We are accepting proposals via our online form at https://forms.gle/jpSyx7VWZQ91HfTP8. We will be reviewing proposals on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to get your proposals in early. Submissions will be closed on March 24, 2023, with final notification by March 27, 2023. Information about the Virtual Member Forum is as follows: When: April 4, 2023, 1pm-3pm UTC (find your local time) April 4, 2023, 5pm-7pm UTC (find your local time) April 5, 2023, 3pm-6pm UTC (find your local time) Where: All online via Zoom, with opportunities to join via computer or phone Who Can Attend: Anyone from an ArchivesSpace member organization is welcome to attend. Register now: Information session about the new ArchivesSpace Consortium Provider affiliation ArchivesSpace is the choice for archives information management in organizations of many different types and sizes throughout the world. At the same time, supporting the deployment of ArchivesSpace is increasingly an expectation for consortia that provide technology services to their members. In recognition of the important role they can play in our larger community, ArchivesSpace is launching a new Consortium Provider affiliation. This affiliation will provide a clear path for staff of consortia to provide more informed service to their members and connect with the larger ArchivesSpace community while supporting the sustainability and future development of the ArchivesSpace application at the same time. Please note: individual institutional membership will remain the way for consortia member institutions to access ArchivesSpace membership benefits directly. This is not a discount program or a replacement for individual institutional membership, which is essential for the sustainability of ArchivesSpace. This information session is aimed at staff of consortia currently providing or considering providing ArchivesSpace-related services to their member organizations. In the session, ArchivesSpace Program Manager Christine Di Bella and Community Engagement Coordinator Jessica Crouch will discuss the benefits of the program for consortia and their members and how becoming a Consortium Provider will contribute to the sustainability of ArchivesSpace and protect the substantial investment organizations make when implementing the application for their core archival functions. The ArchivesSpace Consortium Provider affiliation will officially launch on July 1, 2023, to coincide with the 2023-2024 ArchivesSpace membership term. Consortia that commit before then, however, will get a prorated fee for the rest of the current term and be able to access its benefits right away. Membership Renewals for 2023-2024 ArchivesSpace is developed by and for the community that uses it, and strengthened by services and activities that support our community and connect us to one another. ArchivesSpace membership is our primary source of revenue and informs and sustains every aspect of the program, including software development, support and engagement. A special thanks to all of our members for all they do to make ArchivesSpace possible. Though it feels like the calendars just turned a little while ago, we are already thinking about the next membership year for ArchivesSpace. We expect to be sending out our renewal invoices for 2023-2024 in early May. While we have shifted our billing to accommodate the growing number of requests for earlier invoicing, it is not a problem if you prefer or need to pay closer to the July 1 start date of the term. Invoices will be sent to the billing contact we have on file. If you are a member and not sure of your billing contact or if your billing contact has changed, please let us know. If you would prefer to be invoiced earlier than early May, please let us know that as well and we?ll be glad to help. If you have any questions, or if you would like to join as a new member for the remainder of the 2022-2023 membership year or already know you would like to join us in 2023-2024, please let us know at ArchivesSpaceHome at lyrasis.org. We look forward to another year of working together. Membership Update We are excited to welcome our newest members to our community! The Governance Board is charged with providing oversight for the ArchivesSpace application and community, including fiscal oversight, the approval of development priorities, and oversight of the Technical and User Advisory councils. Board service is an excellent way to serve the ArchivesSpace community while also gaining valuable experience with organizational governance. Please see the full descriptions of the responsibilities of Board members for more information on this key role in the ArchivesSpace community. This year we are seeking 2 candidates for the Very Small level and 2 candidates for the Large level. While the current incumbent at the Medium membership level is running for re-election, we are also seeking 1 additional candidate at that level. The terms for all successful candidates will be July 1, 2023-June 30, 2026. Each newly elected member representative will be eligible to run for a second term, July 1, 2026-June 30, 2029. Governance Board nominees must be currently employed by an ArchivesSpace member organization in either the Very Small, Medium, or Large member levels (see the member lists at: http://archivesspace.org/community/whos-using-archivesspace/). A variety of skills, interests, and experience can be useful in furthering the Board's mission. As the community for a software application used in many different settings, we seek diverse voices in working to improve ArchivesSpace and support those who use or may benefit from using it. We especially encourage Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and others currently less represented in our governance groups to consider joining us in these important leadership roles. To submit nominations, including self-nominations, please submit this form at https://forms.gle/XCW92iEPMmQVWhXN9. Nominees who confirm their interest will be requested to supply a candidate statement outlining their qualifications for serving on the ArchivesSpace Governance Board. The Nominating Committee will review all nominations and confirm a slate of nominees with the current Governance Board. An election ballot will be circulated to member institutions in mid-May. Nominations must be received by 9:00 p.m. EDT Friday April 28th. Please contact Christine Di Bella, ArchivesSpace Program Manager, at christine.dibella at lyrasis.org> or any member of the Nominating Committee with questions. Thank you for your participation in this important process, which is an essential part of our identity and operations as a community-based software organization.
