That’s where I hope you can come in, by forwarding this email announcement out to your colleagues, Tweet—heck, mention it on any social media platform—and help us spread the word. The more buzz, the better!

The application is only two-pages in length, and our program lead will meet with institutions to discuss concepts, provide feedback, and review applications ahead of time.

For those of you that may be unfamiliar, the Catalyst Fund is an award program to test and try new ideas and innovative projects submitted by LYRASIS members. 2021 applications will be reviewed by librarians, archivists, and museum professionals during March and April with recipients announced in June 2021. However, LYRASIS members may partner with non-member institutions and can act as the lead applicant for a collaboration or team pulled together for the purposes of the grant.

Criteria for Consideration

This year, in addition to our general call for proposals, the Catalyst Fund is piloting a new thematic track and welcoming applications focused specifically on Open-Source Software (OSS). Applications in this track will still apply the same core values and creative concepts of the Fund: to test-and-try new approaches to shared problems; focusing on cross institutional collaboration; issues such as diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility; other community-driven projects; and projects having community impact.

The OSS track will look for projects to help the advancement, evolution, expansion, and/or application of OSS to provide innovation solutions for the LYRASIS community. Applications do not need to address this theme, but funds have been reserved specifically for those that do.
